As many places across the nation start to welcome back patrons and figure out how to navigate the new normal, some art and entertainment sectors such as the world of social dance have had to perform complete overhauls in order to re-emerge in the current COVID-19 climate.

Months into the Pandemic, and with respect to the health and safety of instructors, staff, students and the entire local dance community, a lot of great care and attention has gone into the careful planning of ATOMIC’S re-opening.

ATOMIC’s innovative team has implemented a new set of precautions to allow social dancers to get back to what they love doing most while keeping safety and comfort at the forefront. Keeping in line with the latest guidelines and paralleling some precautionary steps taken by other industries on the forefront,

Starting with contactless sign up. Students must check in and pay using the ATOMIC Ballroom App and upon arrival will wait in their cars until lesson time. Upon entry temperatures of all staff and students will be taken and guests will not be allowed in the lobby. For everyone’s safety there are plexiglass shields at the front desk, disposable gloves are available, and air purifiers with UV-C sanitizers will be used in rooms without ventilation. All teachers must wash hand and arms with soap and water between lessons and just like everywhere else, face masks must be worn at all times while in studio. Dancers without their own partners should stay 6 feet apart and when possible doors will be kept open for added ventilation (which was already quite legendary even pre-Pandemic)! Also, lesson times will be staggered with 15 minutes in between each class to allow for room clean up, hand washing and so that students don’t pass each other while coming and going from class.

Dancers will be pleased to discover that safety protocols aren’t all that’s new at ATOMIC. In addition to the great variety of dance styles already offered like ballroom, salsa and more, ATOMIC has added some new and exciting things to the roster such as Roller Skate classes with Leo Ra James! Yes, roller skating! Talk about ingenious and innovative, throwback for some, yet a totally new frontier for others. Another fun skill to add to ones arsenal, skating is a great way to work on balance and coordination while staying active with others or even alone. Roller Skate Basics is on Saturdays at 6PM and Skate Line Dances is on Saturdays at 7PM with instructor Leo Ra James. You won’t find this at just any dance studio, so this is truly something special not to be missed!

Also on the schedule is Lindy Hop with Nikki and Mikey on Tuesdays at 7PM for Beginning and 8PM for Intermediate/Advanced. There is also Argentine tango with Lauren and Shesha on Wednesdays, Beginning 7PM and Intermediate/Advanced at 8PM; both styles in studio! There are other classes including live stream classes, which you can still use your ATOMIC credits for, and of course private lessons, which accelerate your learning with the undivided attention of your professional instructor.

In addition to fast tracking your dancing to the next level, private lessons are also a great way to prepare for the always well-received annual Dance Showcase, put on by ATOMIC BALLROOM students and teachers. After all these months of cabin fever, you won’t want to miss out on this highly anticipated event. So don’t delay, sign up online today!

Remember to download the Ballroom App to stay connected, for ease of registration and other contact free needs, or also Email dance@atomicballroom.com for private lessons, questions or comments!
