This past weekend, Orange County welcomed dancers from the UK, Argentina, around the US and across southern California to Inspiration Weekend 2014! From insanely inspirational bands and instructors, to unique contests and performances, everyone in attendance had fun expressing their love for all things swing…

In Case You Missed it…

This years instructors line up included the fabulous Kevin St Laurent & Jo Hoffberg, superstar performers Juan Villafañe & Sharon Davis, and SoCal’s very own jitterbugs Jeremy Otth & Laura Keat. This instructor team, and the other all-star performers who joined them, put on show stopping, creative performances.

Dancer and bandleader, Jonathan Stout showed up with 3 different bands to inspire audiences with a new musical flavor each night.  The dedication Mr. Stout puts into organizing and arranging bands which produce exceptional quality (sweet, hot, trad and small combo style) swing music for dancers earned him the 2014 Inspiration Award!

There were some changes to this years contest schedule. In addition to the traditional 30-Second Showcase, IW Tournament, Solo Jazz and Blues contests, Inspiration Weekend added 3 new contests: Cabaret, All-Star Jack’n’Jill and an interesting twist on the Amateur Jack’n’Jill, which was a really neat way to connect new dancers to the all-stars who inspire them.
