Come Join Us this July 28th to celebrate National Dance Day!

Head into Atomic Ballroom or venture up to the Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles and join the world’s largest National Dance Day celebration!!

Once again, So You Think You Can Dance producer Nigel Lythgoe and the Dizzy Feet Foundation have teamed up with The Music Center and Los Angeles County to get Americans off their couches and onto the dance floor for the 3rd Annual National Dance Day.  This years celebration will inaugurate the opening of The Grand Park in downtown Los Angeles with fabulous dance performances, classes and activities for all ages.  Everyone is welcome to come out and get moving towards a healthier and more active tomorrow!

7 Ways to Celebrate National Dance Day

1. Learn a New Dance Taking Classes at Atomic Ballroom
Tired of standing on the sidelines at In Cahoots? Want to shift some weight with a dance fitness class? Drop in to Atomic Ballroom this Saturday for a group lesson or grab a teacher for some private instruction. Take the first step towards a healthier body and learn something the show off the next time you head out to the clubs with a lesson in West Coast Swing or Country / Nightclub Two-step. Swing your hips with a sultry belly dance class or really kick up a sweat with Jazzercise. It’s easy to get moving at your local community dance studio!

2. Learn the National Dance Day Routines and Head up to Los Angeles’ Grand Park
Join the Dizzy Feet Foundation for the official National Dance Day celebration at the opening of The Grand Park. Perform the official National Dance Day Zumba and Hip Hop routines with thousands of other participants, watch incredible performances, take classes and participate in a variety of activities for all ages.  Public parking is available or go green and take the Metro!

3. Get Dressed Up for the Celebration of Dance Gala

On the evening of National Dance Day… Don your diamonds and fancy duds for this black-tie dinner and unforgettable night of dance performances at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of The Music Center in downtown Los Angeles.  See some of your favorite So You Think You Can Dance, LXD and Step Up routines performed live along with incredible pieces by Alvin Ailey and the American Ballet Theatre!  Tickets must be purchased in advance.

4. Organize a Group of Friends and Family to Celebrate Together

Get a group of friends and family together and support each other in being healthy and active.  Learn the National Dance Day Routines, film yourselves performing the routines and send it into the Dizzy Feet Facebook Page!  Then throw on some records and have fun dancing for the rest of the day!

5. Get ‘Jiggy with it’ Right at Home

No need to get out and spend money when you can dance right there – yes, in the room your sitting in right now.  Put on some music, step away from the computer and dance!  Challenge yourself to spend 20 minutes each day learning the National Dance Day routines or simply turn up the volume and ‘dance like no one’s watching’ for a few minutes.  Being active is easy – just move!

6. Get your National Dance Day Stamps

National Dance Day will be the first day you can pick up your newly issued “Innovative Choreographers” Stamps featuring: Isadora Duncan, Bob Fosse, Jose Limon and Katherine Dunham.  Collect these special released stamps or send a message of dance to someone you know!

7. Follow the Lindy Hoppers & Atomic Swing Teams to Camp Hollywood

If you’re obsessed with Swing Dancing and Lindy Hop, then come out to Camp Hollywood at the LAX Marriott!  Support your favorite Atomic Ballroom instructors and the Atomic Swing team as they compete in the National Jitterbug Championships, then swing the night away with Jonathan Stout and his Orchestra!  Saturday night’s theme is Disney Characters, so dress up and join in the fun this National Dance Day!
