We’ve got tips for showing that someone special that you care, plus some last minute suggestions for brushing up on your slick dance moves.  Then next week, we’ll be going over the most romantic dances on film!

3 Tips for a Special Valentine’s Day

  • Conventional is OUT
  • Originality goes a LONG way; Be creative
  • Romance can be FUN

Chocolates, roses, a nice dinner in bad lighting, lingerie…we’ve seen it all.  With so many holidays becoming a bit too commercial, Valentine’s Day is a perfect opportunity to show you’re significant other or new crush just how thoughtful you are.  First of all, a little planning will go a long way.  If you just stopped at the store on your way over, it will show; instead show that you took the time to care.  And you don’t have to plan anything elaborate for days in advance (unless you really want to); just taking a few moments to think about what would make that person happy today will go a long way in your relations with them in the future.

Wow you’re partner with your subtle knowledge of their desires, past memories, interests, and hobbies.  Recreate a special date or moment you once shared.  Pick up that micro brew he love’s but is hard find.  Fill up his/her desk with their favorite childhood candy.  Or even leave them a personalized mixed tape/CD/playlist with songs by their favorite band (it’s not unique method but it shows thoughtfulness).

DON’T be afraid to just cut loose and have some fun.  Suck up your fears of heights and go indoor rock climbing with them, just this once!  Skip dinner and run around a local amusement park like teenagers.  If you’re still getting to know each other, skip the movies and overly romantic spots; keep it casual and go out with a group of friends.

In the end, too much fuss can fizzle the fun, romance and/or love.  Be as creative as you can be and take the time to show someone that you’ve cared enough to pay attention to them this Valentine’s Day.
