Olivia Hales Adams Bio:
Olivia has a passion for sharing her love of Balboa and tries to cultivate an environment where people at all levels and ages can come, learn and feel welcome. Transitioning from a Horse Show Jumping instructor to Dance Instructor has been an absolute joy since she is able to apply 2 decades worth of teaching athletic ability, body mechanics and communication through feel from her horse riding students to her dance students.
Slow Balboa is a beautiful dance that requires a unique type of groove and rhythm. The things Olivia values the most is the partner connection, the flow of movement and the subtleties of communication. She takes most of her Slow Bal Inspiration from the amazing Darlene Lind.
Jacob Wigger Bio:
Jacob Wigger fell in love with Balboa in 2005 and one year later took his first Slow Balboa class with Dean Raftery. After several different understandings of Dean’s basics, and occasional feedback from Dean, he developed a deep and nuanced understanding of the underlying movements.
Jacob loves to use the movements and techniques from Dean Raftery and more recently, Ray Cunningham to form the core of his Slow Balboa style. Improvisations with these forms combined with other Balboa and Bal Swing techniques done slowly and with as much groove as possible, round out his unique Slow Balboa style.
Jacob has been teaching Slow Balboa tasters and workshop classes since 2012 and has been excited to see the dance gaining so much popularity worldwide these last few years.
