We’re two weeks into 2011 and I’m sure if you’re like most of the world you’ve made New Year’s resolutions.
So what are your goals for 2011? To get in shape? To meet new people? To learn a new dance? To get better at dances you already know? The resolutions that dancers make are often tied in one way or another with dance, so I’ll share a few of mine with you.
My own personal resolutions involve fitness and I can’t think of a better way than to dance more! I’m going to use my newfound fitness enthusiasm to take more classes at ATOMIC and actually venture out of swing to learn a few other styles, including tango and salsa, and yes, I admit it, country two-step. It just looks like so much fun and then it means I don’t have to go to a gym. If exercising isn’t fun I won’t do it, no matter what the possible pay-offs are.
One of my other big resolutions this year is to travel – and when you can combine travel and dance, so much the better! My first trip of the year is planned for April where I’ll be heading to the lovely city of New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival and for some of the events at Fleur de Lindy.
I hope to see or meet more of you on the dance floor this year, either at the ATOMIC-Irvine location or at their brand-spanking new location in Placentia. And I’d love to hear what your goals, resolutions, and thoughts are for the year ahead.
Happy New Year everyone! Let’s make 2011 the most amazing year yet!
