The ATOMIC Cherry Bombs performance at the 2010 Dance-A-Thon

It’s hard to believe that another 24 Hour Cancer Dance-a-thon has come and gone, but the 2010 Dance-a-thon came, went and was a huge success!  Much of that success was due to the ATOMIC Ballroom family and dancers who kept their eyes wide and their feet moving for the entire event. The ballroom had so many participants this year that ATOMIC had not one, but two fabulous teams who danced the 24 hours thru, although I think everyone felt like this at the end of it.  ATOMIC Team A was captained by the lovely Trisha Pollock who Shesha described during her birthday celebration last Friday as being “the heart and soul of ATOMIC.”  ATOMIC Team B was captained by the equally lovely Robin Squier.  Both women were hard working members on the Board of Directors for the Dance-a-thon as well as team captains.

In addition to dedicating their time to organizing the Dance-a-thon, Shesha and Nikki Marvin also taught classes during the event.  Shesha taught Lindy Hop with Carla Heiney, helping beginning and advanced dancers alike to master their swingouts, while Nikki with her partner Mikey Pedroza gave everyone new ideas to keep their Lindy fresh and exciting.  ATOMIC Cherry Bombs dazzled the crowd with two great performances, complete with a guest appearance by Mikey Pedroza.  Be sure to check out the new Cherry Bomb routine at their next performance.

A big thank you goes out to everyone in the ATOMIC family and extended community who made this event such a success.  And what a success!  A total of $180,000 was raised for the City of Hope and it’s thanks to dancers like you who participated.  800 of you to be exact.  Not only did the event raise $50,000 more than last year, but the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-a-thon broke all previous records for the number of participants.  Donations will continue to be accepted for the next few weeks so keep sending them in via snail mail or online at the 24 Hour Cancer Dance-a-thon website.
