Isaiah Meders
Staff Instructor

Isaiah began his dance training in Latin and Ballroom, an arena that he competed in for many years with much success as a professional and as a teacher. In addition to competitive dancing, Isaiah has spent over 15 years developing his social dancing in disciplines that include Salsa, West Coast Swing, Ballroom, and Argentine Tango

With over 20 years of dance experience, Isaiah Meders has achieved tremendous success training competitive dancers, developing social dance venues, teaching social dancing to thousands of students, and directing several dance schools.

He began his career in dance in 1995 at a small dance studio in Florida, after excelling in many major sports as a young adult. As a competitive dance instructor, he has taken many of his students to competitions all over the United States, including a group of youth competitors to the 2003 Junior Olympics. He has personally competed at a professional level in International Latin, American Rhythm, and Theater Arts. He developed the Copacabana DanceSport competition team, which produced two National Champions in the International Latin and Standard divisions.

In 1999, Isaiah found his calling in the teaching profession when he and a partner moved into the Dance Conservatory in Jacksonville and launched their own dance program. In 2002, they started an improv comedy and dance show that developed into a non-profit community organization, Pharcyde Dance Center. This group put on productions and shows combining dance performance and film, and offered adult social dancing, a youth performing arts and Latin program, and performance teams. In 2004, Isaiah co-founded Jacksonville’s first social salsa program, Dance Salsa Jax and, upon its success, co-founded Jacksonville’s first Rueda program in 2007 – RuedaJax Salsa. Both organizations continue to thrive today.

Isaiah’s interest in film production and it's integration with dance coalesced in a film production company co-founded by Isaiah in 2005 (Far & Away Pictures), which created several film and dance projects, including music videos for local Jacksonville bands and entries for the Jacksonville 48-Hour Film Project. Isaiah has served on the board for Norman Studios Silent Film Museum. He and his partner were hired to choreograph for the feature film, “Lonely Hearts,” and he had the opportunity to teach dance to Selma Hayek and Jared Leto. Isaiah was also commissioned by Lisa Rinehart to choreograph an Argentine Tango at the White Oak Plantation.

Isaiah enjoys being part of community organizations and has worked with River City Band, American Heart Association, Norman Studios, ILAB – Independent Living for the Adult Blind, AAU Junior Olympics, Fostering the Arts, the United Way, the Torrance Cultural Arts Foundation's Dancing With The Stars, and the Switzer Learning Center.

You can find Isaiah promoting social dancing at venues in the LA/OC area and teaching dance at IM Dance Happy Studios in Torrance, CA as well as ATOMIC Ballroom in Irvine, CA.
