As summer soon approaches its end, what better way to bring the season to a close than with a sizzling summer dance festivals. From Thursday, August 13-Sunday, August 16, the LA Summer Bachata Kizomba Festival returns to Los Angeles (for 4 full days and 3 nights of all the steamy Latin dancing that you can handle.

From its new location, the Sheraton LAX hotel, this years festival, promises to increase the already sizzling summer temperatures, all while igniting an inferno of sweltering passion and desire (on the dance floor). It all kicks off with a customary pre-party on Thursday night, August 13th at the Sheraton hotel. Offering a special bachata class with Daniel and Desiree from Spain, as well as a kizomba dance class with Manuel Dos Santos and Flavie. The social heats up even more with music by three of the hottest salsa, bachata and kizomba DJ’s around.

Beginning on Friday, the weekend festival will offer over 40 workshops from internationally recognized instructors (teaching the latest in salsa, bachata, kizomba, as well as jazz, hip-hop, cumbia and even lap dance)! There will also be two beginners boot-camps with a different style each day, and additionally three hour choreography intensives in multiple styles (including hip hop and jazz). This is perfect for those who wish to challenge themselves and take their dancing to a new level, while also getting to perform what they’ve learned on stage later that night (after learning a 1 minute routine earlier in the day)!

In addition to the workshop jam packed days, the nights will also be exploding during Saturday’s special bachata concert with Joan Soriano and his band directly from the Dominican Republic. You will also have performances from your favorite teams and instructors each night for your entertainment. If you’re wondering what you should wear, there is a different theme each night, ranging from “A causal affair” for the Thursday pre-party (ultra casual dress code), to a “Black and White affair” themed dress on Saturday night. There is also a “Nerd Party”, boasting so called geek attire on Sunday, and of course (less surprisingly) a “Havana Night” theme called “Flavor of Cuba”, (which is sure to boast lots of bright colors,
snazzy hats and traditional guayabera shirts).

It doesn’t stop there, as there are also special contests from bikini and hard body contests to a bachata dance contest of course, which happens to be a World Latin Dance Cup qualifier. You can dance, play or relax at the daily pool parties from 1pm-5pm, which include the not to be missed “Bachata Games” : water balloon tosse, three legged race and volleyball. For those who prefer a little R & R, the 300 person capacity pool has plenty of space for lounging and working on your tan, while healing those sore bodies. For those who just can’t stop dancing, there will be live music along with DJ’s playing your favorite tunes for some poolside dancing all afternoon. The workshops and nightly socials will be held in three large ballrooms until 5am every night for those who dare to try to dance until they drop!
