For me, Jazzercise evokes fond (or horrifying) memories of 1980s leotards, sweatbands and smooth jazz. But, Jazzercise did not die out with the 80s; in fact, this dance fitness program has expanded around the US, upped the cardio and now grooves to more modern tunes. One thing remains the same however, and that’s the fact that Jazzercise is still a fun way to dance yourself fit at any age or ability level!
So what is Jazzercise?

This ain’t your mama’s step aerobics class – Jazzercise is a fun aerobic and strength training workout which combines dance, resistance training, kickboxing, Pilates and other techniques into short choreographed routines for an effective total body workout. You can burn off about 600 Calories in just one hour long class.

Group fitness classes, such as this, are great since they don’t cost a lot of money or require equipment, and you get to have fun while you dance for your health. And though I can’t believe I am admitting this, but my mom used to drag me to these classes as a child. And I loved it! Now, I am now a healthy and active adult, and I can even remember the choreography from these routines I learned (*cough* over 20) years ago. So step to the music and Jazzercise!!
