Celebrate the Fourth of July in Vintage Style
The United States is celebrating 236 years of independence this year! And around sunny southern California this Wednesday, there will be backyard barbecues, neighborhood block parties and extreme fireworks displays. As you prepare to don your Red, White and Blue here are some ideas to bring a little vintage inspiration into your summer wardrobe.
Adding a Vintage Touch to Your Summer Wardrobe
For the Gentlemen
It’s a scorcher out there this year, but that’s no excuse for not looking your best gentlemen! So ditch your usual black and dark blue suits for something a little lighter. A nice white, ivory linen or seersucker suit is this summer’s hit – choose cuts that flatter your body, colors that match your skin tone, and add pops of red and blue with your shirts, ties and handkerchiefs. For a classic casual look, throw on a pair of jeans and a blue stripped seersucker sport coat. And show off your love of vintage refinement with a light silk ascot or collegiate bow tie. These light fabrics will keep you looking sharp and feeling cool without showing that you’re melting in the Fourth of July heat!
For the Ladies
It seems like it’s all about the post-war era fashions for women this Fourth of July. Pull out your vintage one-piece bathing suits as you with the beach. If you’re going to a BBQ then put on your picnic plaids and red polka dots – go for a casual playsuit, 50s cut dress or just a touch with a vintage apron. And since colored pants are all the rage, put on a pair of bright red capris with a sparkly blue top to show your patriotic and vintage pride.
