Salsa Classes

Salsa refers to a fusion of informal dance styles having roots in the Caribbean (especially in Cuba and Puerto Rico), Latin and North America. The dance originated through the mixture of Mambo, Danzón, Guaguancó, Cuban Son, and other typical Cuban dance forms. Salsa is danced to Salsa music. There is a strong African influence in the music as well as the dance.

Beginning
Beg Casino Rueda
As Caribbean as its origins are, salsa is distinctly American . It evolved in no small part from its original Cuban style, called “Casino”, which is still danced in Cuba today as well as anywhere else in the world where salsa can be found. Casino Rueda is a fun, group-based social mixer version of Casino… everyone dances in a circle, everyone switches partners repeatedly, and everyone has a great time! Come and see what this challenging dance is all about.
Beginning

Beg Salsa Series (D): Basics
I always want this class to be a place where the first-time dancer can feel right at home, but the returning dancer can feel like they’re ready to transition up to intermediate classes. This class is less about stringing a long series of basic moves together, and more about taking one basic move, and learning important variations on it. Expect to try lots of different moves in this class.
Beginning
Beg Salsa Series B – Combinations
When you first learned any skill, from walking to the most physically challenging sport, you had to memorize and practice a movement to learn it well. “Just figure it out and improvise” doesn’t necessarily work or get you to remember well when the time comes to do it. Combinations are sets of moves that you can learn and practice to master your basics, and the best part is that the practice is salsa dancing! This class will introduce a few different sets of moves that every dancer should have in their pocket. Take this class to learn some great moves with a special twist at the end – you’ll find out what I mean!
Beginning
