Cha Cha

Cha Cha Classes

There are three flavors of Cha-cha-cha dance, differing by the place of the chachacha chasse with respect to the musical bar. Ballroom Cha-cha and street Cha-cha-cha in Cuba count "two-three-chachacha". Country/western Cha-cha-cha and Latin street Cha-cha-cha in many places other than Cuba count "one-two-chachacha" or "chachacha-three-four".

Born in Cuba as a modified version of mambo, this music moved on to develop in America due to its tremendous popularity - many classic rock and roll songs were based on the cha cha cha! This dance gets its name from a catchy sound made by the percussion in the music and by the dancers' feet as they follow along with it. This class is an overview on posture and frame, and moves such as progressive and side basics, crossovers, and underarm turns you'll use to dance to a song such as Santana's "Oye Como Va".
